Silly secret survey soup

Sat Jul 17, 2004, 12:03 AM
I've been seeing a lot of surveys in journals lately.

Thought I'd follow the trend.

1. Do you like filling out surveys?

No.

Fun fun.

Slothful scorning surfaces...

Well, I am finding less motivation to make animations lately (as shown by my lack of updating for over a month). It not 'artists block', because I don't believe in that. I belive I'm just being damn lazy. :P

In other news, I'm playing Paul in the play "Happy Birthday Wanda June", which I suggest as a good read for all of you.

Ah, getting to some reasoning and stuff, I had 800 deviations and a good 300 journals to check (why are there so many dang good artists out there?) so I had to click that 'clear all' link or I'd go nuts. Basically, If anyone has a deviation that they feel I should absolutely check out, send me a link. Especially if it's a Flash animation. Who knows, it might put me into the mood to animate meself.

Curse my slow internet connection. That's it, I'm gonna find something on my computer to attempt to upload.

Devious Journal Entry

Naw, I'm still here. I've been doing little work recently. Instead, I've been reading books, listening to music, and enjoying my summer with friends. I have a lot planned, and hopefully, I'll put some tidbits together and upload something.

*I watch a good many artists around here, and I admit that I mark the majority as read without giving them a glance. The thing is, I have a painfully slow internet connection, and I couldn't possibly check everything.

So, when I check my messages, I always check the journals of certain people (though not always comment) and check the titles of others. I always check out works in flash, I more often than not check TRADITIONAL ART, which I feel deserves much praise. I tend to stay away from poetry...

There are many Traditional Artists that deserve recognition, unfortunately, I don't have time to gather all the names to list.

One example, however, is a great artist, ~emcguire This person's work has impressed me for quite some time, and now she is selling it. If you have the spare money, I highly suggest checking out some pieces here: [link]

I'll make a better journal when I have time...

I didn't like seeing the long journal entry, so I make myself a new one.

Whew! A busy week has this been. We had one heck of a Renaissance Festival at our school. I got to act in a comedy with two amigos in front of the school, and I got the chance to display an animation of mine on the big screen for the entire school (though I tried to hide the fact that it was done by me).

Anywho, enough of that. I'm still working on some projects, but I'll get another flash animation made before I become an old, decrepit man.

New York, New York (Not Newark)

---@@@SECTION WHAT I UPDATE@@@---

I usually try to avoid talking about any personal life stories in an online journal, but hey, I went to New York (and Newark, but that's a different story :D) and actually have stuff worth hearing. The Lion King on broadway is definately everything I had imagined and more. I had a nosebleed seat, but the show was outstanding nonetheless. New York is friggin huge. I live in Louisiana for those who don't know (yes, that's right, I am not really from Zimbabwae) and here the biggest buildings one can jump off of and survive. In New York, you can barely see the sky...

Other than broadway, I got to finally visit China Town. I found some very nifty things among the trinkets there. Most of China Town was full of fish mongers and jewlery salespeople, but occasionally one could find a neat junk shop. In said junk shops, I purchased a fine kimono along with a silly pair of goggles/sunglasses and a totally awesome Starfox watch (which I am wearing as I type). This watch was a promotional offer for the original SNES game, and I didn't expect to find one in this day and age, but lo and behold I found one in the dusty corners of China Town.

I went to the top of the Empire State Building where I froze me bums off, and I have many photographs of my journey, of which I may share one or two. The plane ride was quite an experience for me. I had never ridden in one before, though I've got some sensitive ears, and they were popping mightily.

After getting home very late (plane was delayed), my friends and I decided to go see Kill Bill 2 the next day (which was the day it came out in theaters). It was six of us: Murk, Mafo, Talroy, Jess'ka, Caroline 142, and WillJones. We got to the theater in good time and Mafo had bought our tickets by the time we got there, which was good. We went inside and everyone went through except me. I had realized, to my horror, that in my unpacking from the New York trip, I had left my ID near my suitcase. Thinking quickly, I told the usher that I would be back with my brother (which I don't have) and went into the lobby looking for anyone going to see Kill Bill 2. I found a 19-year old and, unknowing of his age, asked him if he would pretend to be my father. He agreed and he passed the security, although we were soon after stopped and asked our ages. That's when I found out he was 19, but the confused usher just let us go. I joined up with my friends soon after and enjoyed the masterpiece that is Kill Bill 2.

Afterwards, Caroline 142 insisted that we eat dinner at the nearby Hooters (a 'family' restaraunt where waitresses wear skin tight shirts). Soon we were sitting on stools (my feet couldn't reach the ground) and I was enjoying a quesadilla. I was playing around with a steak knife (I had stacked everyones sauce cups on top of one another and jammed the knife in). While pulling the knife out of the cups, I sliced my hand right below my index finger and began to bleed more than I would've thought I would. I grabbed a paper towel and insisted that it was nothing, occasionally dipping my hand into my glass of water. When I was 3/4s of the way through with my quesadilla, I began feeling dizzy and nautious. Then I blacked out. I can't remember a thing (which is a terrible feeling) and, according to my friends, I fell backwards off of the stool and smacked my head straight onto the hard concrete floor. They said I got right back up only to fall again, this time on my face. Next thing I know, I wake up while being half carried by Jess'ka to my car (I was a driver) stumbling here and there, barely keeping balance. We eventually made it to the car and they put me in the backseat. I barely remember the events, but before I knew it, I was home and my friends went elsewhere while my mother put me in her van.

We went to the Zachary hospital where I was born (the hospital in town was too undependable to waste time at) and I was brought through the emergency doors (though I feel it was no emergency). There in the waiting room I sat, keeping myself awake in the case that I had suffered a concussion, for six grueling hours. Finally, the doctor brought me into his room only to tell me that nothings wrong and send me home. On the good side, they put a little 'emergency' bracelet on my wrist which I will wear for days to come along with my Starfox promotional watch and my newly obtained scar. My nose hurts.

The End

(Murk will try not to post any more boring events of his life)

As for as important stuff, I'm working on many school projects along with a few things of my own, including a Flash tutorial which may or may not ever be worked on. I'd like to show my appreciation to a few artists here, but looking at my schedule, it may be a while...
